General questions

The basics about working with VideoConnectSharp.

How much does a typical video project cost?

Pricing varies based on the scope, duration, number of shoot days, and complexity of post-production. As a general guide, a short social media video (thirty to sixty seconds) typically starts around $1,500 CAD, while a polished corporate brand film or multi-day documentary can range from $8,000 to $25,000 or more. We always provide a detailed, line-item quote after our initial discovery call so there are no surprises. If your budget is fixed, we are happy to tailor the deliverables to fit—quality is never sacrificed, but we can adjust scope to match your investment.

How long does production take from start to finish?

A standard project—covering pre-production planning, one or two shoot days, and full post-production—typically takes four to eight weeks from kick-off to final delivery. Simpler projects like social media edits or event highlight reels can often be turned around in under two weeks. Larger-scale productions such as multi-episode documentary series or campaigns with extensive animation may require three months or more. We establish a clear timeline during the planning phase and provide regular progress updates so you always know where things stand.

Do you travel outside Gatineau for shoots?

Absolutely. While our studio is based in Gatineau, we regularly travel across Quebec, Ontario, and other Canadian provinces for on-location shoots. We have also completed projects in the United States and Europe. Travel expenses—including transportation, accommodation, and per diems—are itemized transparently in the project quote so you can plan accordingly. For remote or international shoots, we can also coordinate with trusted local crews to reduce travel costs while maintaining our quality standards.

What equipment do you use?

We shoot primarily on cinema-grade cameras including the RED Komodo, Sony FX6, and Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro, paired with a curated selection of prime and zoom lenses from Sigma, Canon, and Zeiss. For lighting, we use Aputure and ARRI LED panels that allow precise colour temperature control on set. Audio is captured with Sennheiser and Rode microphones, and we use DJI drones for aerial cinematography. In post-production, our editors work in Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, with After Effects and Cinema 4D powering our motion graphics and 3D animation pipeline.

How many revisions are included?

Every project includes two rounds of revisions at no additional cost. The first revision addresses structural feedback—pacing, scene order, music selection—while the second focuses on fine-tuning details like colour grading adjustments, text overlays, and audio levels. Additional revision rounds can be arranged at a pre-agreed hourly rate. We find that our thorough pre-production planning and regular check-ins during editing mean most clients are delighted after the first revision.

Can you help with scripting and creative direction?

Yes—in fact, many of our clients rely on us for end-to-end creative development. Our process begins with a discovery session where we learn about your goals, audience, and brand voice. From there, our creative team develops a concept, writes the script, and creates a storyboard for your approval before any cameras roll. If you already have a script or creative brief, we are equally comfortable working from your existing materials and adding our production expertise to bring it to life.

What file formats do you deliver?

We deliver final videos in whatever format your distribution channels require. The most common deliverables include MP4 (H.264 or H.265) for web and social media, ProRes for broadcast or further editing, and optimized exports for specific platforms like YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, or internal presentation systems. We also provide multiple aspect ratios—16:9, 9:16, 1:1, and 4:5—if your campaign spans several platforms. Raw footage and project files can be included upon request for an additional fee.

Who owns the final video?

Upon full payment, you own the rights to the final delivered video and can use it across any channel without additional licensing fees. We retain the right to use clips in our portfolio and promotional materials unless a non-disclosure agreement is in place. Any licensed third-party assets—such as stock footage or music tracks—are cleared for your intended use as part of the project, and we provide documentation of all licences for your records.

Technical and logistical questions

Details about shoots, scheduling, and deliverables.

Do you provide on-screen talent or voiceover artists?

We maintain a network of professional actors, presenters, and voiceover artists across Canada. Whether you need a bilingual narrator for a French-English campaign, an on-camera host for a product demo, or background extras for a lifestyle shoot, we handle casting, contracts, and talent coordination as part of the production process. Talent fees are quoted separately and approved by you before booking.

Can you add subtitles or translate videos?

Yes. We offer professional subtitling in English and French as standard, with additional languages available through our translation partners. We can produce open captions burned into the video or closed-caption files (SRT, VTT) for platform-level captioning. Accessibility is important to us, and we recommend subtitles for all social media content to maximize reach and engagement.

What happens if the weather disrupts an outdoor shoot?

We monitor weather forecasts closely in the days leading up to every outdoor shoot. If conditions pose a risk to equipment safety or significantly compromise the visual quality of the footage, we will reschedule at no additional cost—provided we have at least twenty-four hours' notice. For mission-critical events that cannot be postponed, we bring weatherproofing gear and adjust our lighting and shooting plan to work with the conditions.
